Why do I like someone who is so different from me?

Okay, so I really like this guy. I've liked him for almost two years. But we are just complete opposites. But, we get along fine. He usually gets into fights with other girls, I mean we've gotten into a couple fights, but it's never bad and we can just make up the next day. But he loses his friendship with other girls that he's gotten into fights with. So I guess you can say that he's mean to a lot of people. I'm nice to basically everybody. No one ever says anything bad about me, but I hear people dissing him a lot. He also smokes,does pot, and drinks. I have never/would never do those things.(we're in high school btw) He also isn't the sharpest tool in the box. He's kinda dumb, but actually, if he applied himselft more, he'd be kinda smart. I, on the other hand, am an honors student with a 3.9, almost a 4.0. He also acts like he's "ghetto." He listens to lil' wayne and swears a lot. I listen to lil wayne occasionally but he knows like every song and I hardly ever swear. He also acts like a player, but since he gets into fights with girls a lot, not many girls would go out with him, even though he's popular. I'm not as popular as he is, but I'm about there. He also acts like he's all tough and stuff but he's really not, no offence to him. It may seem like he's a douche, but I don't really think he is. We have stuff in common but it's little things. One big thing we have in common is that we're both somewhat shy. It usually depends on the situation. People tell us how we'd be such a cute couple and how we flirt all the time, but then they say how I deserve so much better, which I do. I don't understand why I like him so much. I can't ever get him off my mind, and it's pretty annoying actually. I've never liked anyone so much.
