Is Mystic Ct Pedestrian Friendly?

I want to visit Mystic CT. However, I don't drive. I really want to take my family on a fall foliage weekend getaway in Oct. A Co-worker said that Mystic is wonderful but doesn't know if it would be considered walker-friendly. THANKS all the help!!!
