Help I am looking for the title and artist of a song?

The song is from the late 70's maybe early 80's, they play it every once in a while on the Clic Rock stations, and it is mostly a piano playing and the guy singing. It's a pretty long song, maybe 8-10 minutes. The piano rift he is playing is basically the same 4 notes over and over until you get to the chorus. The only part of the chorus I was able to pick up was " And the sound that your hearing is the sound of the...." Sorry I wasn't able to pick up more than that.... Does anyone know who sings this and what the name of it is?
